Tomato and basil spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil and cook the spaghetti al dente, following the time on the packet.

Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a frying pan and cook the garlic for 1 minute without browning it.

Add the tomatoes, season with salt and pepper and let them break down for 8 minutes over medium heat.

Drain the pasta, keeping a ladle of cooking water. Toss it with the sauce and a little of that water, then add the shredded basil.
